And It Came To Pass

I got my mission call!
I've had it for a few weeks now (3 weeks, to be exact) and I just remembered that I need to blog it! I opened my call on Christmas morning, while surrounded by some of my wonderful family and some of my closest friends.
But I digress, let me cut to the chase. I have been called to serve in the Missouri Independence mission. In addition to my call to share the gospel I will be serving in the Independence Visitors Center.
I really feel like this is the best place that I could go. I have always loved history. Mostly American History and Church history. I love this stuff so much that in September of 2008 I went on a tour with BYU-Idaho. It was called the Mormon American Travel Studies Tour. We spent a few days in Independence and the surrounding areas. I actually saw one of my friends from high school who was serving his mission in that area.
In August of 2009 I went on a family reunion to Nauvoo, but, due to the location of the airports in the surrounding area, we spent the ends of the vacation in Independence. Before we headed to Adam ondi Ahman I discovered on the map that there was a little town called Bethany. WOAH!
I was determined that I would get there, but the closest we could get was 18 miles away. Yes my dad did stop and turn the car around so we could take this picture.

Since we didn't get any closer to this city which bears my name, and since it is within the bounds of my mission, I would really love a chance to actually serve in Bethany!
But if the chances are that I don't (my mission covers a large portion of Kansas) You know I will just find a way to Bethany after my mission.
In short, I'm incredibly excited to serve. :)
